Murgh Malai (Creamy Chicken Curry)

Delicious , creamy and easy to make dish is Murgh Malai , also known as Creamy Chicken Curry. This curry is rich in taste and texture .

Murgh Malai is the best weekend dish also is served well with flatbreads. The methi leaves used in this dish gives the aromatic royal smell to this creamy dish .

I know you might be drooling 😋 over this dish , so let’s not waste time and get on with the recipe.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 large onions (sliced thin)

  • 2 green chilis (center slit)

  • 1 ½ tsp ginger garlic paste

  • 1 kg chicken (cut into pieces)

  • 1 cup yogurt

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tsp garam masala powder

  • 1 ½ tsp cumin powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 2 tsp pepper powder

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup fresh cream

  • Few kasuri methi

Method

  • To a heated pan , add butter and let it melt . Add onion slices and let it cook till it’s translucent.

  • Add the slit green chilis and ginger garlic paste and saute it.

  • Add the chicken pieces into the pan and let it cook (5-10 minutes) till the chicken has changed its color.

  • Now add salt and yogurt and saute it well. Cover the pan for 15 minutes in low flame – the chicken will be half cooked .

  • Add cumin powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, pepper powder and mix it well. The chicken is cooked in the yogurt – to attain the gravy consistency, add the cup of water . Cover the pan for another 15 minutes in low flame and let it cook .

  • Now add fresh cream and handful of kasuri methi into the pan , mix well gently and cover the pan for 10 minutes in low flame. You may garnish your creamy chicken with few coriander leaves.

Creamy Malai Chicken curry is ready to be served 😋 with flatbreads.
